“I’m on a Mission”

 “I’m on a Mission” – (Mark 1:14-15; 21)

The mission and primary purpose of Jesus Christ was to preach the gospel of God. (Mark 1:14- 15; 21-22; 38) Jesus possessed unique and extraordinary gifts that frequently took Him away  from His primary purpose of preaching the gospel of God.

Notice how using your gifts can shift you from your primary purpose to your secondary purpose.

Jesus healed a person with an unclean spirit. (Mark 1:23-27)

Jesus healed Simon’s mother in law who was lying sick with a fever. (Mark 1:29-31) Jesus healed many sick people & those who were demonically possessed. (Mark 1:32-34)

The news about the gifts of Jesus spread everywhere. (Mark 1:28; 45) Although His popularity  gave Him opportunities to heal the sick and cast out demonic spirits, Jesus realized that His  secondary purpose would often take Him away from His primary purpose which was to preach  the gospel of God. (Mark 1:32-34) (Proverbs 18:16)

What do you do when your gifts, time, energy and efforts help people, but sometimes take you  away from your primary purpose?

You need to create system that will REJUVENATE, RENEW, RECHARGE & REFUEL yourself to successfully operate in your primary and secondary purposes! (Mark 1:35-38)

Notice what Jesus did, He created and implemented a system to aid Him with His purpose.  (Mark 1:35-39) A system is a plan, pattern or procedure that is consistently & continually  displayed which produces optimum results.

Jesus system involved getting up early in the morning while it was still dark. (Mark 1:35) Jesus system involved leaving His normal surroundings. (Mark 1:35)

Jesus system involved going to a secluded place. (Mark 1:35)

Jesus system involved spending time with His Father in prayer. (Mark 1:35) Jesus system involved refocusing His agenda to prioritize His primary purpose. (Mark 1:36-38) Jesus system involved reorganizing His plans to effectively pursue His mission. (Mark 1:38) Jesus system involved realizing what He came for. (Mark 1:38)

POWER POINT: Some people want you to give them the help they want from you, but they  don’t want the help that God purposed for you to give them. (Mark 1:38-39)

Applications: 1) Know you mission 2) Create your system 3) Stick to your system 4) Use all  your gifts 5) Focus on accomplishing your primary purpose 6) Recognize if people are pursuing  you for your purpose or their purpose 7) Find a place where you can pursue your purpose &  accomplish your mission! That place is the Newburg Church of Christ!
